Environmental Health and Safety Representative

E. & J. Gallo Winery is currently hiring for an Environmental Health and Safety Representative who will execute environmental, health and safety education and assessment functions to help ensure compliance with corporate and regulatory policies and standards. Maintains and tracks EH&S training records, lab analysis records and regulatory documents. Coordinates and engages in the EH&S training and for facility employees maintains the training database.
What You Will Do:
Coordinates, administrates, and/or facilitates all compliance programs and processes (to include occupational safety, environmental, food safety, etc.) for all assigned sites.
Facilitates the implementation of compliance programs/procedures for the facility.
Facilitates, coordinates and/or conducts facility's internal and external compliance assessments.
Facilitates the facility's Documented Hazard Identification process; ensures corrective actions have been put in place.
Maintains OSHA recordkeeping requirements for injuries and illnesses; supports investigations of onsite injuries, illnesses and incidents; publishes and communicate the outcomes of investigations investigation reports to leadership
Conducts and coordinates communication and training programs to educate facility employees on the principles, practices and regulations of occupational safety and health as well as applicable environmental issues.
Maintains material safety data sheets for all hazardous materials used in the facility.
Reviews facility S.O.P.'s and departmental job/task training documents ensuring integration and compliance with safety procedures and regulatory requirements.
Partners with facility departments to conduct job safety analysis for use in conjunction with S.O.P's.
Coordinates the facility's personal protective equipment programs/processes (e.g. prescription/plan safety glasses, hearing protection, gloves, respirators, etc.); conducts audits to ensure employee and facility compliance.
Conducts training of individual site trainers for effective delivery of workforce training programs.
Conducts environmental and occupational safety training as needed.
Coordinates facility safety and environmental training plans/schedules.
Functions as the technical resource for the facility's safety teams and safety committees and ensures appropriate documentation and records are kept.
Supports all record documentation systems including documentation facility inspection records, accident files and environmental databases.
Ensures that hazardous waste handling is conducted in accordance with company policy and meets regulatory requirements.
Enters Safety Training Data into tracking software; works with line and area managers to ensure training schedule and materials are distributed according to prescribed deadline.
Complies monthly summary of safety and environmental metrics/reports and communicates to appropriate business partners.
Supports the preparation of environmental permits and assessment compliance.
Monitors all air permit requirements and reports as necessary.
Must maintain satisfactory attendance, to include timeliness.
Responsible for understanding and complying with applicable quality, environmental and safety regulatory considerations. If accountable for the work of others, responsible for ensuring their understanding and compliance.

What You Will Need:
High school diploma or State-issued equivalency certificate.
Bachelor's degree plus 2 years of environmental health & safety support (training, monitoring, evaluating employee safety) or manufacturing production operations reflecting increasing levels of experience OR 6 years of environmental health & safety support (training, monitoring, evaluating employee safety) or manufacturing production operations reflecting increasing levels of experience.
Required to lift and move up to 25 lbs.
Experience actively taking part in executing health and safety initiatives.
Required to climb ladders and stairs to access mezzanines located at extreme heights. ? Valid driver's license. Required to obtain a California driver's license or appropriate state driver's license within 30 days of hire.
Required to travel to multiple winery and vineyard sites as required.
What Will Set You Apart:
Bachelor's degree in Occupational Safety and Health, Industrial Technology plus 4 years of environmental health and safety management experience reflecting increasing levels of responsibility.
Completion of OSHA #501 course
Possess a "Certified Safety Professional" (CSP) or other occupational health/safety certification.
Skilled in presenting information and responding to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
Skilled in reading, analyzing and interpreting general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.
Skilled in the use of MS Word, Excel, Access and PowerPoint at an intermediate level.
Skilled in applying mathematical operations to such tasks as frequency distribution, determination of test reliability and validity, analysis of variance, correlation techniques, sampling theory and factor analysis.
Skilled in applying advanced mathematical concepts such as exponents, logarithms, quadratic equations, and permutations.
Skilled in defining problems, collecting data, establishing facts, and drawing valid conclusions.
Experience with influencing change in organizational culture and practices through the establishment of cooperative working relationships with department personnel. This includes associates and various leadership levels, and other plant and corporate staff support services.
Experience developing and conducting effective training programs and making formal presentations.
Experience conducting work that is varied and somewhat difficult in character, usually involving limited responsibility, requiring frequent evaluation, originality or ingenuity.

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
