Job Summary:

The Tax and Treasury group is responsible for the propriety, accuracy and analysis for tax as it relates to the winery and shareholders and cash management forecasts and proposals used by management to make business decisions. The primary function of the Treasury Analyst is to ensure that all aspects of the information processed is presented in a timely and accurate manner.┬  This task is accomplished by working closely together with the Treasury Staff, other members of the Finance and Accounting Staff, and others both inside and outside the Winery.┬

  • Often the Treasury Analyst will be requested to assist in obtaining information for presentation to management or to answer inquires by Accounting and other department management.┬ 

  • There are certain primary responsibilities that will determine much of what you work on daily, weekly, and monthly as you plan and schedule your work.┬  It is important to recognize deadlines and provide adequate time for initial completion, self-review, supervisor review as needed and ultimate completion.┬ 

    Below is an outline of your primary responsibilities:


  • Corporate Tax Responsibilities

    • Monitor and problem solve all taxes filed by TFE including engaging state and federal agencies.

    • Review third party prepared tax filings paid by TFE on behalf of the shareholders to insure correct and complete

    • Maintain a multi year quarterly tax forecast for TFE and shareholder tax ┬ liability and shareholder distribution projections

    • Manage the R&D tax credit consultant engagement

    • Maintain all necessary schedules for multiyear tax credits and apply for additional credits as applicable for the winery

    • Stay up to date on all tax changes relevant to the winery

    • General ledger account maintenance and reconciliations




  • Sales & Use Tax Responsibilities

    • Monthly, Quarterly, Annually reporting for all out of state Direct Shipment sales and use tax filings (via Ship Compliant)

    • Quarterly CA Sales and Use tax return preparation and filing

    • Regular sales and use tax accruals, reconciliations, and research according to policy and procedures

    • Maintain annual registrations related to Sales and Use tax Licenses, Complete registration/applications for new states

    • Maintain current tax rates in SAP

    • Company contact for Sales and Use tax questions and research

    • Reconcile and maintain appropriate balances in tax specific bank accounts

    • Prepare and Analyze various G/L Account reconciliations as assigned

    • Prepare and post journal entries for related accounts


  • Compensation Plans

    • 401(k) and Deferred Compensation plans general ledger account maintenance and reconciliations

    • Reconcile payroll deferrals and loan payments to 401(k) administrative data biweekly.

    • Maintain split dollar life insurance vesting schedules, payment tracking and general ledger maintenance.

    • Supply payroll with imputed income calculations annually


  • Projects & Other Processes

    • Special projects as deemed necessary by department needs

    • Develop, evaluate and document business processes and procedures



Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree required in Accounting or Finance.

  • 4+ years experience in tax related position

  • Preferred individual with proficient Excel skills (pivot tables, filtering, and look-up formulas)

  • Ideal individual also has experience with SAP, ShipCompliant, and RMS ┬ 

  • Recent experience with computerized accounting systems. SAP experience preferred.

  • Ability to work with confidential information on a regular basis.

  • Attention to detail w/good problem solving skills and the ability to meet deadlines.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

  • Project management skills

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
